Railroad of Bonding

I have always wanted to, or at least have pictured myself being in a situation where I am stuck or stranded somewhere for some time with random people and then we all become close and tell stories and become friends. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to be in any danger or not comfortable or starving or anything, but just somewhere where strangers become friends.

This exact thing has happened to 183 passengers on board an Amtrak train in Oregon, heading to Los Angeles. The train hit a fallen tree, and due to extreme weather and worsening conditions, there is no way to get alternate transportation for these people or even get the train to move.

The train company is not charging for any extra food the people on the train eat (I wouldn’t even question it). The passengers and workers have been stuck on the train for over 24 hours, since last Sunday. The cellphone reception hasn’t been the best, so it is difficult for some people to get in contact with their families.

Customers have talked about how the whole thing is like a giant “kumbaya party” teenagers taking care of younger kids, kids they don’t even know. People dancing and talking together that have never met. Everyone is together as one, all differences set aside for the moment, almost as if there is no confrontation in the world. This is what I love, people becoming friends, because they can’t go anywhere, right now they are stranded, so why not make the best of it.

Stranger Things

If you have Netflix, then you know about the show Stranger Things. This is one of my all-time favorite T.V. shows and I believe being a “Netflix Original” Netflix did an amazing job with this one. And obviously they did, because they keep coming out with more season and the ratings are very high. Such as, season 3 is already projected to come out July 4, this summer!!!

It was a couple months after the first season came out that I watched it. It was with my best friend Eric and he recommended that I watched it. Just after the first episode, I was hooked. Then season 2 came out and that was just as good, if not better.

NOW! Season 3 has come out and I cannot wait! It is coming out July 4, Independence Day, which is a lot later than what people originally thought. But the directors and actors are all saying that it will be worth the wait, and I believe them. This season I am very excited for, and really happy that they are coming out with it during the summer so that it is not when everyone has school. I am very pumped and the trailer looks amazing.

Stonehenge Mystery Puzzle Pieces Coming Together

There are many tourist attractions in the world which bring awe to people. One of these special attractions is a well known “nature site” called the Stonehenge. This unknown landmark has been a mystery for years and years in Wiltshire England, but it seems now that excavators there have possibly figured out at least one of the mysteries.

How stones are set up like that, why the stones are set up like that, how the stones got there, why that exact spot? These are just a few of the many questions that are asked when questioning the Stonehenge. I have heard rumors of the Stonehenge being a large clock for the sun or even some type of ritual site. But up until now scientists and excavators have actual proof of where the stones actually came from.

Some of the smaller stones of the bunch have been chemically tested and match to two quarries on the northern slopes of the Preseli Hills. Supposedly the way those stones, also known as bluestones, were created was due to lava hardening and then cracking into long pillar shapes.

The mystery of the stone henge still remains, but this article does an amazing job answering some questions as to if this is a burial site or how the stones got to where they are now.

Tree Spree

Most people know that trees are a sign of life and they do a lot in keeping not just the world clean and healthy, but us and other living things alive.

Trees take in carbon dioxide and then release oxygen, that process and photosynthesis are what keeps us alive. Unfortunately, humans are damaging the system by creating too much carbon dioxide through other means like factories and car exhaust. At the same time we are pumping the atmosphere full of carbon dioxide, we are continuously cutting down forest after forest. This is further pushing us to the edge of no return, cutting down trees and deforestation are not the route we should be taking. Trees do not have the ability to absorb the amount of carbon we are releasing, because we have made it an unfair ratio.

Reading the article Research: Planting Trillions of Trees Could Cancel Out CO2 Emissions shows that trees could positively have an effect on this issue we currently are having with global warming and the major greenhouse gas effect. Planting trees and slowing down deforestation will have a great positive effect on the planet. Like it said in the article, planting somewhere in the trillions of trees could give the possibility of much cleaner air and a fresher atmosphere that we have not had in a very long time.

Sure trillions of trees being planted might not be a reasonable goal at the moment, but starting somewhere with planting trees should definitely be a priority. Reducing our CO2 emissions and planting trees together can have that positive effect on the atmosphere and benefit our health and the living creatures on this planet.

El Chapo

The name itself, El Chapo, is one that most people might know if they follow the news. El Chapo, or Joaquin Guzman, is known as one of the biggest drug lords in history, and he is known for sneaking many many drugs into the United States.

Guzman just recently went on trial at the US federal courthouse and was found guilty on all of his charges. However, it did take a while for Guzman to even get to the point of sitting in the United States courtroom.

This article tells exactly of the famous “slippery” El Chapo. How it took not just one, not two, but many arrests to finally keep a grip on him. He was able to escape from TWO maximum security prisons and each time was just a major defeat for not only the Mexican law enforcement, but the United States FBI whom were involved in trying to capture El Chapo.

In the end the law enforcement was finally able to obtain Guzman and some of his highly dangerous security cartel. The chase was very exhilarating, I am sure, but in the end the head of the snake was cut off. This does not mean that the drug trafficking will stop, but one large step at a time will help in this game.

The Future Through a Vacuum

When people think of robotic vacuums most likely a name that comes to mind is Roomba. Roomba is a robotic vacuum that has within the past few years evolved to be something no one thought a vacuum could be. My family and I have a Roomba vacuum at our house and to be honest it makes life a lot easier.

People do not realize how much crap falls to the floor in just one day. I will go to empty out the Roomba after it finishes vacuuming the entire first floor and the container that holds everything that is sucked up off the floor will be close to full. We are not by any means a dirty family, the house is kept tidy day by day (my Mom makes sure of it). But what I will find in the container is an abundance of dog fur and dust that just collects so fast within a day. It makes me appreciate Roomba just so much more. Not everyone has the time to vacuum their house every single day, Roomba has that covered and that little robot will do a fantastic job with the amount it picks up off the floor.

This new Roomba in the article that I read (link to the article below) blows my mind. This new Roomba (though very expensive) is smarter than most modern technology today. People are able to schedule specific time and days that they want their Roomba to clean. If that doesn’t impress someone then they might find it totally insane that a person is able to schedule what specific rooms they want Roomba to clean on specific days and times as well. All of this can simply be done on the application that coordinates with the robot. This Roomba is the future and it impresses me on what people have been able to do and it makes me eager for what is to come.

Humans on Mars?

This article was a very interesting one for me to read. Thinking about going to the moon is crazy enough, all of the preparation and time that it takes. Also, a person cannot forget the large array of things that could go wrong on the trip. Now take this a step up and there is a plan to take people to Mars! To get to the moon is around three days, for Mars, it’s nine months! That is a huge difference and would be a whole different story. That is what this article is about, the preparation these astronauts and photographers are taking to prepare for Mars. They are working to get every single kink and loose end out of the way because these people cannot make a mistake. I give props to our astronauts with all of the months of work they put in to prepare and the equipment they have to wear which can take up to about three hours to put on. Maybe someday we’ll be on Mars. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2019/01/see-how-astronauts-simulate-mars-mission-on-earth/

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Post

This article that I ready shows how wise and knowledgeable Martin Luther King Jr. was and still is to this very day. Yes, Mr. King has since long passed, but his ideology still holds true to this very day. With his visit to the Berlin wall, he knew the wall was just another thing, object, obstacle standing in the way to try and divide humanity. Mr. King states how we are all children of God, and no wall can stand in between that, there is no question or way to avoid that fact. Him speaking over in Berlin on both the West and East sides shows how he wants to unite people. He uses the struggles between African Americans and white people as a symbol, to symbolize the wall. That struggle can be the wall, or the wall can also be the struggle.
